Bauan Church is an example of the
many churches built during the early years of Christianity
in the Philippines. It was constructed sometime in 1667 and completed by 1692,
using a simple design typical of Spanish churches built during this period.
The first structure was destroyed by fire, but was immediately rebuilt on its original foundations,
not far from the first one. The new church had thick stone walls made from volcanic rock that supported archaic buttresses on both sides of its façade
